You are what you eat.

We’ve all heard that before—and usually we think of it terms of our physical bodies and our weight.

But what about food’s effect on our emotional state?

Our gut functions as a second brain. There are trillions of living microbes within our GI system, and some of the many things they do for us is to send chemical messages to the brain to regulate sleep, pain, appetite, mood, and emotion!

So what can we do if we’re feeling yucky—either we’ve overindulged, or it’s a deeper level of general malaise?

Firstly, clean up your diet. Removing alcohol, sugar, processed foods, and caffeine will make a big difference. Not only do they mess with your blood sugar levels and/or have high sodium, they also throw your microbiome off balance. Usually it’s because they’re devoid of the nutritional resources that support the beneficial bacteria.

There are supplements you can take to help to eliminate the stuff that’s making you feel icky, and others to support proper digestion, like probiotics, digestive enzymes, and many more.

Exercise helps, too. It can speed up your metabolism, and sweating is a great detox. It’s also a fantastic mood booster (in my case, my mood only improves once I’m done 😂).

✨What if you could have a tool that supports you with all of these things?
