What is a limiting belief, and how can you make it go away?

In this post, I’ll review the answers to these questions, along with 3 things you can do to shed your limiting beliefs.

A limiting belief is an idea that resides in the subconscious part of your mind that informs how you act and the choices you make throughout your life. The goal is to erase the limiting belief so that you can have an easier time getting to your goals!

We have goals and aspirations about where we want to be and what we want to do, and it is those pesky limiting beliefs that keep us from getting there.

The good news is that they do not have to be permanent! There are many ways in which you can transform your limiting beliefs into something that used to be true for you, and is no longer true. Obliterate that sucker! The first step is knowing it’s there. Once it’s in your consciousness, you can take the necessary action to reprogram yourself.

One thing that you can do is to journal. It doesn’t have to take a large amount of time, but writing down your thoughts and feelings, kind of like a mind dump, is a good way to sort out what is going on for you in a general way. We kind of already know, or have an idea about our limiting beliefs. They show up wherever we feel stuck in life. There is something in the back of our mind that alerts us to the fact that we don’t believe we can do it or have it.

Journaling not only helps you identify limiting beliefs, but it is also good for massaging them right out of your system. There are 2 ways in which you can use a journal to overcome a limiting belief. The first is that when you see it in writing, you can assess how accurate it really is. Seeing it in black and white allows you to see whether it stems from a fear of the unknown, a past experience, or if there is even any concrete evidence to back it up. It also allows you to take a step away from the associated feelings, and determine what constructive thought habits you can put into place to overcome the limiting belief. 

The other way in which journaling is really helpful with removing limiting beliefs, is using the technique of writing from the perspective of already having or doing the thing that you’re feeling stuck on. This gives your body a chance to experience the emotions of having it. It gives your mind a chance to believe you can do it. A continual practice of doing this will make a big difference over time.

The next thing we can consider, is writing an affirmation that would counter the limiting belief. If, for example, we have a belief that we are not worthy of love, the ideal thing to be concerned about is to reassure our conscious and subconscious minds, and our heart as well, that we are, indeed, worthy of love. So take a piece of paper and write down “I am worthy of love.”

Now it’s time to use your affirmation. Write it down and put it somewhere where you can see it throughout the day. Repeat it to yourself as often as you can, and make it a habit to tell yourself in the mirror that you are worthy of love. Because you are. There is a universal truth to that, so do not doubt your affirmation. You can also put the handwritten affirmation against a cup of water. This is another topic, but water carries the frequency of words, and it can help to deliver that affirmation to your heart and mind when you drink it.

Just like journaling as a regular practice, writing down your affirmation repeatedly is another way to boost it and speed up its adoption by your subconscious mind.

Of all of these, the best way that I have found to conquer the beliefs that hold me back is to supercharge my affirmations with my Healy. I’m still working on this, of course, but with the use of this wearable frequency device, I’m shortening the time it takes to see results.
